Shaan Bhuiyan receives Shining Personality of the Year Award 2018 from Sher-e-Bangla Foundation

Shaan Bhuiyan, chief advisor and one of the founders of Omega Point, a drug addiction treatment and recovery center, has given the Shining Personality of the Year 2018 award for his outstanding contribution to the community and society. The event was held at Professor Akhtar Imam Auditorium and was organized by Sher-e-Bangla Foundation on 31 March.

In view of the growing menace of drug addiction and related social problems, Shaan Bhuiyan set up Omega Point in 2015 along with his associates. The aim of the organisation is to treat and cure victims of drug addiction and abuse. Shaan Bhuiyan is joined by actor Shyamol Zakaria and chairman of the organization Razib Shah, in his efforts to fight this menace.

Accepting the award, Shaan expressed his gratitude towards the Sher-e-Bangla Foundation for recognising his efforts. He said the award would further motivate him to work harder towards achieving his goals. He said his commitment to the community is unbreakable. Community work is one of his passions and he was committed to free the country of anti-national and anti-social activities. 

Outside of his role as a social activist, Shaan Bhuiyan is a businessman, running Omari Furnishing Limited. He is also a Local Director of JCI Dhaka East (of JCI Bangladesh) - an international non profit organization that develops opportunities and empowers young people to create positive change in their surrounding community. He completed his higher education from Monash University in Australia.
