BCL council session on 11-12 May

The 29th council session of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the student wing of the ruling Awami League, will be held in the capital on 11 and 12 May.

Saifur Rahman Sohag, the president of BCL central committee, made the announcement on Thursday at a press conference at its Bangabandhu Avenue central office in the capital. 

Prime minister Sheikh Hasina, also president of Awami League, is expected to be present at the inaugural session of the two-day council session, a BCL press release said.

Bangladesh Chhatra League also will hold its council sessions for the three major units -- Dhaka Metropolitan South, Dhaka Metropolitan North and Dhaka University Unit -- on 24 April (Tuesday), 26 April (Thursday), and 29 April (Sunday) respectively.

Saifur Rahman Sohag from Madaripur district and SM Jakir Hossain from Moulvibazar, were elected president and general secretary of the student body for a two-year tenure in the 28th national council session of BCL held on 25-26 July, 2015.

Bangladesh Chhatra League, the country's oldest student organisation, began its journey on January 4, 1948, with the fundamentals of education, peace and progress.
