JU BCL leader ‘slaps, kicks’ student

A Jahangirnagar University (JU) unit Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leader allegedly kicked and slapped a student at a dormitory of the university on Monday, according to UNB.

BCL is the student wing of ruling Awami League (AL).  The victim, Sarwar Hossain, a 4th year student of Physics department and resident of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman (BSMR) Hall, lodged a complaint with hall provost associate professor Farid Ahmed on Tuesday.

Sarwar said Jarman Ali Prince, president candidate of BSMR hall unit BCL, slapped and kicked him indiscriminately in his room around 2:00pm over a trivial matter.

Witnesses said some students collected honey from a hive adjacent to the hall at the directive of Jarman Ali while a flock of bees entered Sarwar's room through an open window.

Sarwar kept the window open so that the bees could go out rejecting the request of the BCL leader to keep it shut which triggered an altercation. At one stage, Jarman slapped and kicked Sarwar, they said. Contacted, the hall provost said he settled the issue.
