UGC to award 165 with Prime Minister Gold Medal
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has decided to award 165 university students with the Prime Minister Gold Medal-2017 in recognition of their academic achievements, according to UNB.
The decision was taken at a steering committee meeting held at the UGC on Tuesday with its chairman professor Abdul Mannan in the chair, said a press release.
The UGC chairman said the gold medals will be awarded to 165 students -- 163 from public and two from private universities -- for securing the highest marks/CGPA in their respective faculties.
He also said prime minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to hand over the gold medals among the recipients at a ceremony which will be held at a convenient time of the PM.
The Prime Minister Gold Medal was introduced in 2005 as an effort to encourage the talented students of the universities in the country.
