Japanese delegation meets CUET VC

A two-member Japanese delegation called on vice-chancellor (VC) of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) professor Mohammad Rafiqul Alamin at latter's office on Thursday morning.

During the meeting, the delegation comprising Japanese embassy's cultural section head (second secretary) Machiko Yamamura and Chattogram's honorary consul general of Japan Muhammad Nurul Islam discussed various issues including bilateral ties between Bangladesh and Japan, said a CUET press release.

During the meeting, the VC urged the Japanese ambassador to give more opportunities for the students and teachers of CUET in the field of higher education, scholarship through bilateral exchange programmes, the release added.

"Many CUET teachers and students are traveling to Japan for higher studies and research", the VC said, adding that the students of CUET are interested in creating business-related startup or innovative activities and entrepreneurs in the engineering and technology sector.

Machiko Yamamura also expressed his keen interest to involve the CUET's meritorious graduates in research and education sector in Japan.

Deans of different faculties, heads of departments, registrar, high officials, among others, were present.

Later, the delegation visited the Japanese Language Centre located at CUET's pre-engineering building.
