5 DU Teachers terminated

The authorities of Dhaka University (DU) on Tuesday terminated the contracts of five teachers for not rejoining work upon expiry of their study leave tenure, reports UNB.

The terminated teachers are - Md Kamrul Islam, associate professor of population sciences, Yesmin Akhter and Md Mahsin, assistant professors of Institute of Statistical Research and Training, Radia Taisir, assistant professor statistics and Azmari Ferdous of oceanography department.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the DU syndicate, the highest decision-making body of the university, with DU vice-chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman in the chair.

Confirming the decision, DU VC Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman told UNB that they were terminated from their post as they did not join work after the end of their study leave tenure.
