12 held for entering Bangladesh from India
Twelve alleged Bangladeshis were detained by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Saturday morning from Maheshpur upazila in Jhenaidah shortly after they entered Bangladesh from India without valid travel documents, reports news agency UNB.
In a media statement, Maheshpur BGB battalion 58 said the detained include five children.
“Acting on a tip-off BGB members searched a bus on Sonagari road around 6:40am and detained them,” a BGB official told UNB.
Some of the detained told BGB that they had gone to India for work at different times.
In November, BGB said it detained 260 alleged Bangladeshis for crossing the border from India without valid travel documents.
