2 cops among 3 held for extortion
Three people, including two policemen, were arrested for allegedly blackmailing a man and extorting money from him in the city on Tuesday night, reports UNB.
The detained are Sifat, an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of sadar police station, Miran, ASI of Sonadanga police station, and Fatema.
Sheikh Maniruzzaman Mithu, additional deputy commissioner of Khulna police, said the two ASIs, colluding with Fatema, lured one Sanjib Sheel to her house in Priyontika residential area.
They later blackmailed him and demanded a large sum of money. The man gave them Tk 27,500 and managed to go out of the house and filed a police complaint.
Police raided the house and arrested Fatema. After interrogation, police arrested the two ASIs for their alleged involvement in the incident.
