6 Nepal officers transferred to 'relieve stress'
Six officers stationed at the Air Traffic Control Tower who witnessed the US Bangla air crash have been shifted to another department to ‘minimize shock of the accident’, said a report on the website of Nepalese media outlet Republica.
Yesterday, the plane, en route to Kathmandu from Dhaka, Bangladesh skidded off the runway to kill 49 people so far. Remaining 22 are undergoing treatment at KMC Hospital, Norvic Hospital and Om Hospital.
“This is a standard procedure to release stress after fateful incident. They witnessed a huge disaster and they are shocked. Hence, we’ve transferred them to other departments to reduce their stress post-crash,” Rajan Pokharel, deputy director general of Civil Aviation Authority said.
Pokharel clarified that the transfer was not due to the leak of audio talk between ATC and the pilot before the impact.
