Admin official attacked by sand lifters
The assistant commissioner (land) of Bagha upazila, PM Imrul Kayes, came under an attack by a gang of sand lifters at Harirampur in Rajshahi on Saturday, reports UNB.
Bagha police station officer-in-charge Mohsin Ali said Imrul went on a drive at a sand quarry by the Padma River at noon without the help of police and sought documents from the sand extractors.
However, the sand lifters swooped on him and beat him. They also beat his security guard Polin Miah.
The injured were admitted to the Upazila Health Complex, the OC said.
After being informed, police went to the spot but found no one there, he said.
