Dengue deaths rise to 24 in Khulna
A woman died of dengue at Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) early Sunday, reports UNB.
The deceased was identified as Sandhya Rani, 55, wife of a certain Bimal Saha of Tala upazila in Satkhira district.
Shailendranath Biswas, resident physician of the KMCH, said Sandhya Rani, infected with dengue, got admitted to the hospital on 30 October. She was undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital.
Rani breathed her last around 1:30am, he said.
With this, a total of 24 people have so far died of the mosquito-borne disease in the district.
Some 151 dengue patients were admitted to different hospitals across the country in 24 hours until 8:00am on Saturday.
Since January, more than 100,000 people were hospitalised with dengue. Of them, 95,249 made full recovery, the UNB report said.
The Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research has received 248 reports of dengue-related deaths. It has reviewed 171 of them and confirmed 107 deaths.
