Dhaka city mayors, councillors to take oath Thursday
The newly-elected mayors and councillors of Dhaka north city corporation (DNCC) and Dhaka south city corporation (DSCC) are going to take oath on Thursday, reports UNB.
The oath-taking ceremony will be held at the prime minister's office (PMO) at 10:30am, local government division senior secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed told UNB on Wednesday.
Prime minister Sheikh Hasina will administer oath to DNCC and DSCC mayor-elects Atiqul Islam and Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh respectively while LGRD and cooperatives minister Md Tazul Islam will administer oath to the councillors, he said.
However, they will have to wait until the mid-May to take charge as the current tenure of DSCC board will expire on 17 May while that of DNCC board on 13 May.
Elections to the DNCC and DSCC were held on 1 February last.
