JCD stages demo protesting Khaleda's bail suspension
Jatiyatabadi Chattra Dal , the student wing of the main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party, brought out demonstration in the capital on Monday in protest of suspension of BNP's chairperson Khaleda Zai's bail order.
About 25 activists of the student wing brought a surprise procession at around 12:30 PM in capital's Fakirapul area, witnesses said.
Earlier in the morning, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court issued an order maintaining a status of quo of suspending the HC's bail for the BNP chief. The apex court, led by chief justice Syed Mahmud Hossain fixed 8 May for hearing the briefs of appeal petitions filed by the respective parties.
JCD acting president Mamunur Rashid led demonstration. Among others, its vice presidents Ikhtiar Kabir, Jaydeb Jay, Humayun Kabir, joint secretaries Kazi Mokhtar Hossain, Mian Muhammad Rasel, Mizanur Rahman Sohag, publication secretary Minhazul Islam, assistant general secretary Jahirul Islam Mukim, assistant organizing secretary Afroza Khanam Nasreen and student welfare secretary Kazi Rawnakul Islam were present at the procession.
