Launches in 43 routes halted due to rough weather
The Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) on Sunday halted plying of launches in 43 southern river routes from Sadarghat launch terminal in the capital due to inclement weather.
The BIWTA authorities made the announcement around 10:00am today, said Marine Safety and Traffic Management director Abu Jafar Hawlader.
“Plying of the launches halted as the met department advised the Dhaka river port to show signal no. 2 due to the inclement weather,” he said.
The order will remain in force until the weather improves, Abu Jafar Hawlader added.
