Man killed in ‘gunfight’ with RAB
A suspected robber was killed and another received bullet injuries in a reported gunfight with members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Gabtoli area early Tuesday, reports news agency UNB.
The deceased is Badsa, accused in several cases with different police stations.
Being tipped-off, a team of RAB-10 set up a check post in front of Madhumati hotel of the area around 12:30am, said Mahiuddin Faruk, additional superintendent of police (ASP) of RAB-10.
Over suspicious movement, the RAB members signalled a truck to stop around 3:00am.
However, avoiding the signal, the robbers opened fire on the elite force, prompting them to retaliate, triggering the gun battle.
The gunfight left Badsa dead on the spot and another robber Hanif injured with bullet.
The team also recovered a revolver, seven rounds of bullets, two machetes, three sharp weapons and seized their vehicle from the spot.
