Physician says Quader’s bypass surgery successful
Road, transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader underwent a successful bypass surgery at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore, physician Abu Nasar Rizvi said.
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) physician Rizvi also said Cardiothoracic surgeon Sivathasan Cumaraswamy, a member of the medical board treating Quader, conducted the surgery.
Quader, also general secretary of Bangladesh Awami League (AL), has been kept at post-operative care, said physician Rizvi after briefing of Sivathasan Cumaraswamy on the minister's health condition.
The minister's family members sought blessings from the country's people for the AL leader’s early recovery.
Quader was admitted to BSMMU on 3 March following breathing complications and tests revealed three blockages in his coronary artery.
He was flown to Singapore the next day for treatment at the Mount Elizabeth Hospital.
