Teenage boy tortured over theft charges; 2 held
Police arrested two people for their alleged involvement in torturing a 13-year-old boy over theft charge from Rajnagar Bandhupara village in Nalitabari upazila of Sherpur on Tuesday, reports UNB.
The arrestees are Ishak Mia, 30 and Rabiul Mia, 20-two sons of Abdus Salam of the village.
The arrestees picked up the teenage body and beat him up mercilessly after tying him up with a coconut tree for stealing a mobile phone on Sunday, said Nalitabari police officer in-charge Bashir Ahmed Badal.
Later, the boy was taken to upazila health complex.
The incident of torture went viral on the social networking site. A case was filed in this connection.
Kazi Ashraful Azim, superintendent of police, visited the spot the following day.
Judicial magistrate Mohsina Hossain put them on a 7-day remand each after police produced them before the court on Wednesday.
