Traffic movement restricted in 11 points of Dhaka
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Wednesday requested the city dwellers to avoid 11 points of the city on Thursday as the government celebrates the nation's elevation to a developing country.
According to a DMP media release, the 11 points are -Shahbagh, Kakrail Mosque crossing, Nightingale crossing, Fakirerpool, Shapala Chattar, Gulistan, Fulbaria, Chankhar Pool, Bakshibazar, Palashi and Nilkhet areas.
The DMP in the media release also requested the city dwellers not to carry any backpack, handbag, vanity bag, lighter or cigarette if they want to attend the celebration, adding that security checking will take place at the points.
The government earlier announced to hold a celebration programme at Bangabandhu National Stadium which is scheduled to take place from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Thursday.
Senior DMP officials said vehicular movement from Kakrail to Fakirapool till Dainik Bangla intersection will be restricted during the programme.
Home minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Wednesday told Prothom Alo that tight security measures had been taken around the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
