Bangladesh extends general holiday for fifth time

The government of Bangladesh has extended the general holiday until 5 May, both for the government and private offices to contain spread of the novel coronavirus in the country.

State minister for public administration Farhad Hossain confirmed this to Prothom Alo on Wednesday.

The government has extended the duration of the general holidays for the fifth time.

Earlier, the general holiday was declared between 26 March and 4 April in the first phase. Later, it was extended till 11 April and then to 14 April. In fourth phase, it was extended to 25 April.
