Bangladesh logs 886 more virus cases as sample tests come down to 3,684

Bangladesh has reported 22 more deaths from coronavirus while only 886 more people have been newly diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

Additional director general of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Nasima Sultana, said this during a regular online briefing on Sunday.

On the 148th day of detection, the death toll now stands at 3,154 and the latest figures take the total number of infections in the country to 240,746, according to the briefing.

And the current infection rate is 24.05 per cent.

Bangladesh first reported death from coronavirus on 18 March while the first case was confirmed on 8 March.

Across the country 586 more patients made recovery, Nasima Sultana said adding that so far 136,839 people have recovered from the deadly disease.

She also said a total of 3,684 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. Of them, 886 were diagnosed with coronavirus.
