Age limit to enter government service to be relaxed

The government is to take a decision to relax the age limit on applying for government service. This decision will qualify those who were 30 years old on 25 March this year, to apply.

This decision was taken upon directives from a top level of the government, an official of the public administration ministry told Prothom Alo. However three other officials of the ministry said that they had sent a summary in this regard to a high level of the government for approval, but it had not be sent back to them as yet.

Appointment procedures have been held up due to coronavirus. A general holiday had been declared for 66 days, starting 26 March. Then from 31 May things began to open on a limited scale. Later everything opened up again.

Normally, the legal age limit to enter government service is 30 years.
