Rear Admiral Ashraful made DG of Coast Guard
Rear Admiral Ashraful Haque Chowdhury has taken charge as the 13th director general (DG) of Bangladesh Coast Guard, the maritime law enforcement force under the jurisdiction of the ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday.
Lt Commander Amirul Haque, media officer at Bangladesh Coast Guard headquarters, confirmed the incident via a release.
Earlier, an order was issued by the ministry of Public Administration on 17 August appointing him as Bangladesh Coast Guard's new DG. Ashraful was commissioned in the executive branch of the Navy on 1 January in 1988, the release said.
He served as an observer of UN peacekeeping missions in Sudan. He was promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral on 7 February in 2021 and prior to being DG, he was the commander of Khulna naval region.
