Khaleda Zia diagnosed with liver cirrhosis: Medical board
BNP chairperson and former prime minister Khaleda Zia has been diagnosed with liver cirrhosis.
A medical board formed for Khaleda Zia’s treatment has come up with the announcement at a briefing at the party’s Gulshan office on Sunday.
The medical board said Khaleda is bleeding due to liver cirrhosis and her treatment is possible only in some specific advanced centres in United Kingdom, Germany and the United States.
He said Khaleda is suffering from heavy bleeding and there would be no treatment in the country if she bleeds once more.
Khaleda Zia would be in a ‘life-threatening' condition if she is not treated immediately, said the medical board member physician Fakhruddin Siddique during the briefing.
He said Khaleda Zia had haemorrhaged three times and her liver has become dysfunctional.
Fakhruddin said that it would become complex to take her abroad if her condition deteriorates further.
