My wings are cut: Planning minister

The government has downsized the planning ministry’s power in approving projects as from now on, the ministry will refer projects worth more than Tk 500 million to the executive committee of the national economic council (ECNEC) for final approval.

Reacting to the development, planning minister MA Mannan jokingly said, “My power is reduced, wings are cut.”

He came up with the statement at a press briefing after attending a meeting of the national economic council.

The ministry will be able to approve government projects worth up to Tk 500 million at pre-ECNEC meetings. There was no such limit for approving projects till the date.
