Two siblings drown in Lakshmipur pond

Two minor siblings drowned in a pond in Charfaloan area in Raipura upazila of  Lakshmipur on Tuesday noon.

Quoting family members, police said the two siblings -- Tonu, 3, and Pias, 4 -- children of Hasan Ali, a farmer by profession, slipped into the pond while playing at noon.
Later, local people spotted their bodies floating on the pond after a frantic search, said officer-in-charge of Raipura police station AKM Azizur Rahman Miah.
A pall of gloom descended on the area following the incident.
