A listed criminal hacked three policemen with a sharp weapon in Hasadaha village of Jibannagar upazila of Chuadanga on Saturday night, reports UNB.
The injured cops-Constable Saikat, Constable Rashed and Constable Rezaul-were admitted to Jibanagar upazila health complex in critical condition, police said.
However, police managed to arrest wanted criminal Liton Mandal, 35, son of Sona Mandal of the village. He was accused in four cases, said Jibanagar police station officer-in-charge (OC) Mahmudur Rahman.
Acting on a tip-off, a five-member police team went to Liton's house to arrest him. Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, Liton swooped on the cops with a sharp weapon around 8:30pm, the OC said.
Preparations were underway for filing a case in this regard, said Abdul Momin, additional superintendent of Chuadanga police.
