Fisherman’s body recovered from Pashur river
The dead body of a fisherman who went missing during a storm on Monday afternoon was found floating in the Pashur river near Sundartala on Tuesday, reports UNB.
Firefighters recovered the body of the deceased, Shafiqul Islam, 38, son of Abul Kashem from Joymoni Katakhal area in Mongla upazila, around 4:00pm on Tuesday.
Assistant director of Bagerhat Fire Service and Civil Defense Md Masud Sardar said Shafiqul fell from his boat while he was fishing along with other fishermen in the Pashur river near Joymoni area around 3:00 pm on Monday.
On information, two fire fighting units conducted a rescue operation along the river but failed to turn up any results before they recovered the body around 4:00pm on Tuesday, added Masud Sardar.
The body was handed over to family members.
