2 men shot dead in Pabna
Two men including the leader of an extremist party were chopped and shot to death over establishing supremacy at Tebaria market under Ataikula police station in Pabna on Sunday, reports UNB.
The victims are Abdul Gafur, 55, son of Dabir Uddin of the same village and regional leader of Purba Bangla Communist Party, and Idris Ali, 42, a local shop owner.
Additional police superintendent of Pabna district Goutam Kumar Biswas said around 7:00pm on Sunday, a group of armed miscreants numbering 10/12 swooped on Gafur while he was taking tea at a local tea stall.
The hoodlums exploded bombs to spread fear in the area and started stabbing Gafur indiscriminately and finally shot him to death on the spot.
The shop owner Idris Ali, who sustained bullet injuries during the attack, died on his way to hospital.
On information, police recovered the bullet-hit body from the spot, said officer in charge of Ataikula police station Masud Rana. “Investigation is on to comprehend the reasons behind the killing,” he added.
