Bangladesh-India 1st-ever coordinated naval patrol on 27 June

The first-ever Coordinated Patrol (CORPAT) by the Bangladesh and Indian navies will be conducted in Chittagong on 27 June.

The CORPAT will be jointly inaugurated by chiefs of navies of the two countries.

Two Indian Navy ships and Air craft will reach Chittagong on Monday to participate in Coordinated Patrol (CORPAT).

Chief of the naval staff, Indian Navy, Sunil Lanba arrived Bangladesh on Sunday on an invitation from the chief of naval staff of Bangladesh navy, Nizamuddin Ahmed.

The Indian navy chief came with his spouse Reena Lanba and a three member delegation.

Sunil Lanba had earlier visited Bangladesh in November 2017 to attend the ‘IONS Multilateral Maritime Search and Rescue Exercise’ (IMMSAREX), organised by the Bangladesh Navy under aegis of the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium.

The Indian navy chief will also address student officers at the National Defence College, Mirpur and visit various institutions.

The visit of the Indian navy chief is likely to further strengthen the close and fraternal ties existing between the armed forces of the two countries, said the Indian high commission in Dhaka.
