OC, SI face action over failure to arrest rape accused

Two police officials of Sreemangal police station have been punished for their negligence to arrest the accused in a case filed over rape of a Class-VI girl on 16 April, reports UNB.

Superintendent of police Mohammad Shahjalal served show-cause notice on inspector (investigation) Sohel Rana and closed sub-inspector Delwar Hossain, also the investigation officer of the case, on Sunday as they did not take proper step even after filing of the case.
On 16 April, a teenage boy of Beltali village in Sreemangal upazila reportedly raped the girl when she was alone at her residence.

Two days after the incident, victim's father filed a case in this regard.

Meanwhile, Rapid Action Battalion-9 members, led by assistant superintendent of police Quamruzzaman, on Saturday arrested the accused from Sarkar Bazar area and handed him over to police.

The victim is now undergoing treatment at a hospital.
