An '11-year-old' domestic help, who was reportedly raped by her employer, gave birth to a baby boy amid great health risks at Jashore Sadar Hospital on Saturday, reports UNB.

Victim's relatives said the girl was admitted to the hospital in the early hours of Wednesday as her condition deteriorated when physicians referred her to Khulna Medical College Hospital.

Due to financial constraints, they failed to shift her there and finally the girl gave birth to a baby boy weighing two and half kgs through caesarean section around 11:45am.

Nilufar Islam, who along with Tanzila Islam, conducted the operation said although the mother and child are out of danger, the girl's health condition is not good enough as she is underage.

The domestic help was allegedly raped by her employer Golam Kibria, 56, an assistant officer of Manirampur unit of Palli Daridro Bimochon Foundation (PDBF) and resident of Taherpur area in Manirampur upazila.

Victim's father who claimed his daughter was 11 years old, said the girl who used to call Kibria grandfather was raped by him in January when she was alone at the house.

He also threatened to kill her if she disclosed the matter to anyone.

However, the victim informed the matter to Kibria's wife who also asked her to keep mum.

The matter came to the fore three months ago when the minor girl fell sick and physicians found her to be five-month pregnant, said sub-inspector of Manirampur police station Soumen Biswas.

Kibria was arrested on 1 July after the victim's father filed a case in this regard.
