Derailment halts Chattogram-Sylhet rail link
Train communications on Chattogram-Sylhet route remained suspended since Friday morning following the derailment of a bogie at Akhaura Rail Station.
A bogie of Chattogram-bound ‘Jalalabad Express’ train from Sylhet veered off the tracks around 7:15am while entering the rail station, halting train movement between Chattogram and Sylhet, said Setafur Rahman, sub-inspector of Akhaura Railway Police Station.
However, no casualty was reported.
Khalilur Rahman, Akhaura Station Master, said the railway authorities rushed to the spot around 9:00am and started working to restore the train communications.
