Every district to get kidney dialysis units: Health minister
The government will install 10-bed kidney dialysis units in every district, allowing patients to receive treatment without travelling to other parts of the country, health and family welfare minister Zahid Maleque said Friday, reports UNB.
At the same time, 20,000 people will be recruited immediately in the health sector, he said, adding that 4,500 doctors will be hired on 8 December.
The minister was speaking at a reception organised by district unit of Bangladesh Health Assistant Association at Gorpara of Manikganj sadar upazila.
Mentioning that the government is doing a lot for the health sector, he said child mortality rate has come down. Besides, lives of at least 100,000 people are being saved every year thanks to development in the health sector including the success of Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI).
Later, the minister laid the foundation stone of a bridge at Betila Bazar ‘kheyaghat’ of sadar upazila which is being constructed at a cost of Tk 32.5 million.
He also opened the extension of the three-storied building of Betila School and College which was constructed at a cost of Tk 7.8 million.
