2 elderly men run over by trains
Two elderly men were run over by trains in Chapainawabganj and Cumilla on Saturday night, reports UNB.
In Chapainawabganj, Ismail Hossain, 65, of Bidirpur area of the town was crushed to death while crossing the rail line.
Quoting the victim’s family, Ziaur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Chapainawabganj Sadar Police Station, said Ismail’s right leg was cut off by Dhumketu train from Rajshahi while he was crossing rail line at around 8:20pm.
He was taken to the sadar hospital where doctors declared him dead at 10:00pm, OC added.
Meanwhile another elderly man, identified as Jotilal Das, 65, of Laksam area was crushed to death by a Noakhali-bound DEMU train on Laksam-Noakhali route in the evening.
Nazim Uddin, officer-in-charge of Laksam Railway Police Station, said Jotilal was killed while he was crossing the rail line in front of Laksam Pilot Girls’ School in the municipality.
The relatives recovered the body before police reached the spot, OC added.
