Woman 'throws' 52-day-old daughter into pond

A 52-day-old girl died as her mother allegedly threw her into a pond of Gopinathpur village in Mithapakur upazila reportedly after her husband and his family members became unhappy over the birth of the new-born.
Locals found the body floating in the pond adjacent to their house on Friday and informed the police.

Later, police recovered the body and sent it to Rangpur Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Khaleda Begum gave birth to three girls one after another which made her husband and other family members unhappy, locals said.

Police arrested the mother, Khaleda, wife of Sultan Miah.

Officer-in-charge of Mithapakur police Station Zafar Ali said during primary interrogation, she confessed to killing her daughter.
