Fakhrul meets Khaleda one and half months after her release

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) chairperson Khaleda Zia on Monday met the party’s secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir after over one and a half months of her release on bail in graft cases.

Khaleda Zia held a meeting with Mirza Fakhrul for around one hour at her Gulshan residence at night, said an official of the BNP chairperson’s political office.

The official said Khaleda is aware of the outbreak of novel coronavirus from media reports. She talked to the party secretary general to know in detail.

Mirza Fakhrul was in protective suits while talking to Khaleda Zia, the official added.

On 25 March, Khaleda Zia got released on bail on condition in an executive order after serving at jail for over two years in a graft case.

The BNP chief went to her Gulshan residence from the prison cell of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University. She met Mirza Fakhrul and other central leaders of the party on that day. Since then, she had not met anyone except her physician and family members.
