Dhaka trade fair to remain closed for two days for voting
Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) will remain closed on 31 January and 1 February for the upcoming Dhaka north (DNCC) and south (DSCC) city corporations’ elections.
Election commission (EC) has issued directives and sent a letter to the commerce secretary to keep the DITF closed for the two days, reports news agency BSS.
The letter said, EC earlier took the decision to keep the DITF closed to hold the city polls on 1 February in a peaceful and festive manner.
On 16 January, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) also sent a letter to the Returning Officer of DNCC to keep the fair close for two days.
