The Bangladesh Shipakala Academy (BSA) announced the names of seven artistes to be honoured with 'Shilpakala Padak-2016' on 20 July, reports UNB.
The seven artistes are -- Mohamamd Golam Mostofa Khan (dance), Sirajuddin Khan Pathan (folklore), Syed Jamil Ahmed (drama), Pabitra Mohon Dey (instrument), Kali Das Karmakar (fine arts), Mita Haque (music), Golam Mostafa (photography).
The names are selected for the contribution to the development of play, music, dance, folklore, photography, instrumental music and fine arts.
BSA director general Liaquat Ali Lucky announced and briefed about the programme in a press conference held at the Seminar Room of BSA on Tuesday where academy's secretary Jahangir Hossain Chowdhury was present.
President Abdul Hamid will present as chief guest in the programme at National Theatre Hall auditorium of the BSA on 20 July.
Cultural affairs minister Asaduzzaman Noor will be present as special guest.
BSA DG Liaquat Ali will deliver an inaugural speech while cultural affairs secretary Ibraheem Hosein Khan will preside over the ceremony.
The academy introduced the award in 2013 to honour the contributors to the local arts, culture and literature.
