DU hosts training prog on ‘petroleum geo-science skill development’
With a view to enhancing professional skills to develop energy sector in the country, a daylong training programme on “Petroleum Geo-science Skills Development” was held at Dhaka University (DU) on Thursday.
Geology department of DU in collaboration with Green Power Limited and Dimension Strata Company Limited of Brunei jointly organised the programme at professor MA Latif Auditorium of geology department.
Vice-chancellor professor Md Akhtaruzzaman, high commissioner of Brunei to Bangladesh Haji Haris bin Haji Othman, DU earth and environmental sciences faculty dean professor ASM Maksud Kamal and managing director of Green Power Limited Shaikh Ehsanul Habib addressed the programme, among others, with geology department chairperson professor M Aziz Hasan in the chair.
Managing director of Dimension Strata Company Limited of Brunei Mohammad Reduan Haji Mohd Yusof and its technical director AKM Ehsanul Haque presented key-note speech.
DU VC hoped that experts of petroleum sector will be highly benefited by this training programme.
The high commissioner of Brunei to Bangladesh said the government of Brunei has keen interest to work closely with Bangladesh to develop energy sector.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Dhaka University and Green Power Limited and Dimension Strata Company Limited of Brunei has already been signed in this regard, he pointed out.
Professionals from different petroleum companies and organisations of the country participated in the daylong training programme.
