SUST bans smoking on campus
Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) authorities have enforced a ban on smoking on the campus, aiming to encourage the students to give up the habit of taking tobacco-made products, reports UNB.
SUST proctor associate professor Jahir Uddin Ahmed issued a notice in this regard on Thursday.
The authorities also enforced a restriction on selling cigarettes or tobacco-made products on the campus area, said the notice.
If any canteen, cafeteria, small shop, food court or vendor is found selling tobacco-made products, strict actions will be taken against them as per the Smoking and Tobacco Products Usage (Control) Rule, 2015.
Earlier, on 18 March 2015, the then acting proctor Emdadul Haque enforced a restriction on smoking on the campus area.
