DUJA protests at attacks on cub reporters
Dhaka University Journalists' Association (DUJA) on Saturday protested at the attacks on journalists, including its vice-president Mir Arshadul Hoque and treasurer, Abdul Karim, on the DU campus on 23 January, reports news agency UNB.
The protest came in a statement issued by DUJA president Asif Taasin and general secretary Mahmudul Hasan Nayon following a decision taken at an executive committee meeting on Friday night.
According to the statement, eight journalists from different media came under the attack when they went to cover the attack on protesting students by BCL men on 23 January.
Earlier, about 10 journalists also came under attack during their professional duty on the DU campus area in the last two months, the statement said.
“Such kinds of incidents are occurring repeatedly as the authorities concerned have not taken steps against the attackers,” it said.
