6-member Bangladesh team announced for 59th IMO in Romania

Six-member Bangladesh team will join the 59th International Mathematical Olympiad.

The Bangladesh Mathematical Olympiad Committee (BMOC) has announced the six-member Bangladesh team for the 59th International Mathematical Olympiad to be held between 3-14 July in Romania.  

The members of Bangladesh team are Ahmed Zawad Chowdhury from Chattogram’s Cantonment English School and College, Rahul Saha from Dhaka College, Joydeep Saha, Tamzid Morshed Rubab and Tahnik Noor Sameen from Notre Dame College and Showmitra Das from Faridpur’s Police Lines High School.   

Bangladesh Mathematical Olympiad team coach Mahbub Majumdar and deputy leader and BMOC general secretary will go to Romania as leader and deputy leader of six Bangladeshi competitors.

 The Regional Mathematical Olympiad-2018 was held in 35 district towns with a view to selecting members of Bangladesh team for IMO. About 25,000 students participated.

A total of 1,300 successful candidates participated at the national level.

Some 45 best performers in junior, secondary and higher secondary categories joined in the 4th Bangladesh national mathematical camp. 

On the basis of results of National Mathematical Camp, Asia Pacific Mathematical Olympiad and IMO selection camps, Bangladesh mathematical team coach Mahbub Majumdar recommends six members for the Bangladesh team. 

As per recommendation of the coach, the Bangladesh Mathematical Olympiad Committee (BMOC) selects the six-member of Bangladesh team for 59th IMO. 

Prothom Alo arranged the math festivals sponsored by the Dutch-Bangla Bank for selecting six-member Bangladesh team for the 59th IMO.

The Bangladesh Mathematical Olympiad Committee has also assisted in organising the math festivals.
