DU appoints returning officers for DUCSU polls
The Dhaka University authorities on Saturday appointed five returning officers to help the chief returning officer for the election to its central students' union DUCSU, reports UNB.
The returning officers are - soil, water and environment department chairman Md Didar-ul-Alam, mathematics department chairmen Amal Krishna Halder, Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies’ director Mahbuba Nasreen, Islamic history and culture’s Abdul Bashir and computer science and engineering department chairman Md Mustafizur Rahman.
DU vice-chancellor Akhtaruzzaman appointed them to assist chief returning officer SM Mahfuzur Rahman, the university said in a press release.
Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) has remained dysfunctional for 28 years. The last DUCSU election was held in 1990.
Polls preparations began after the Appellate Division on 6 January vacated its previous order that stayed a High Court order asking DU authorities to take steps within the next six months to hold the election.
