2 more test positive for coronavirus

Two more people tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of cases in the country to 56, UNB reports.

"In the past 24 hours, IEDCR (Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control And Research) has tested 141 samples and two people have been found positive," officials told at an online press briefing on Thursday, added the news agency.

On Wednesday, Bangladesh reported its sixth coronavirus death and three new cases.

Meanwhile, the global death toll from COVID-19 disease caused by the coronavirus jumped to 47,232 on Thursday.

It has so far infected 935,581 people around the world, according to worldometer.

Of them, 693,073 are currently being treated with 35,478 being in serious or critical condition.

Coronavirus, first reported in China in December last year, is affecting 200 countries and territories around the world and two international cruise ships.

The World Health Organization on 11 March declared the coronavirus crisis a pandemic.
