Ariful’s campaign secy detained

Opposition BNP-backed mayoral candidate Ariful Haque Chowdhury’s election campaign committee member secretary Abdur Razzak was detained by the police on Saturday evening.

Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) additional deputy commissioner MA Wahab confirmed to Prothom Alo that they picked up Razzak, a central leader of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

Members of Kotwali police detained Abdur Razzak around 9:15pm.

However, the police officer could not immediately say why the opposition leader was detained.

BNP mayoral candidate Ariful Haque Chowdhury called an emergency press conference at his main election campaign camp at 10:30pm on Saturday.
