BCL leader sued for assaulting engineer

A case has been filed against Bangladesh Chhatra League’s (BCL) Dohar upazila unit president for assaulting the upazila executive engineer.

BCL is the student wing of ruling Awami League.

The victim, Kabir Uddin Shah, filed the case against BCL president Aminul Islam and four others at Dohar police station on Sunday night, said Sazzad Hossain, the officer-in-charge.

According to case statement, Aminul locked into an altercation with Kabir at his office in the afternoon over construction work of an educational institution. At one stage, the BCL leader locked the room and assaulted him along with his supporters.

Kabir said that Aminul and his supporters attacked him and broke his glass and vandalised a number of things in the room.

But the BCL leader rejected the allegation, claiming that the engineer demanded bribe for construction work of Kartikpur school. There was an altercation, he said, but none was assaulted.
