Elderly woman burned to death in Savar

An 80-year-old woman was burned to death in Hemayetpur area of Savar on Sunday, reports UNB.

While relatives claimed that Moyna Begum set her afire after pouring kerosene, police said they were looking into the incident.

Relatives said Moyna entered a washroom of their rented house in the evening, poured kerosene on her body and set herself on fire.

The incident left her dead on the spot. However, family members buried her without informing police.

AFM Sayeed, officer-in-charge of Savar Model Police Station, said they came to know about the incident from locals. “We went to the spot and talked to the relatives. Things will be clear after investigation,” he added.
