A court here on Wednesday placed expelled organising secretary of Jubo League's Dhaka South unit Khalid Mahmud Bhuiyan on a seven-day remand in a double murder case filed with Khilgaon police station, reports UNB.

Atiqul Islam, Dhaka metropolitan magistrate, passed the order when police produced him before it.

Mina Mahmuda, investigation officer of the murder case and Superintendent of Police of Police Bureau of Investigation, sought a 10-day remand for Khaled.

According to the case statement, criminals opened fire on money exchange trader Israel Hossain and his son Sharif Hossain Saimon and looted Tk 38 lakh from them in the city's Khilgaon area on 4 September 2014, leaving the latter dead and the former injured.

Saimon's uncle Mujibur Rahman filed a case with Khilgaon police station against 3-4 unidentified muggers the following day.

Israel Hossain, who was the owner of 'Universal Money Exchange' at Motijheel, died on 1 September 2016 while undergoing treatment for the injuries he suffered in the shooting.

Khalid, also the president of Fakirerpool Youngmen's Club, was arrested from Gulshan on 18 September last by Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members for running illegal casino in the club.

Three firearms - one of them illegal - along with bullets, and Yaba pills were seized from him.
