The victim's husband sued nine people over the gang rape with Char Jabbar police station on Monday, hours after she had been raped at the dead of night.

While undergoing treatment at Noakhali General Hospital on Monday, the mother of four said that around 10 to 12 accomplices of Ruhul Amin raped her because she voted for the “sheaf of paddy”, the electoral symbol of the BNP, during Sunday's national polls.

Md Ilias Sharif, superintendent of district police said a team of Detective Branch (DB) arrested Ruhul Amin from a poultry farm in Sadar upazila in the dead of night.

The team later conducted another drive at a brick kiln factory in Shenbagh upazila and arrested Bechu Mia.

On Tuesday, police arrested Badsha Alam from Charbajuli while Sohel from Cumilla district and Md Swapan from Ramgati upazila on Wednesday.

According to the victim’s husband, Ruhul Amin and others stormed their house in the early hours of Monday and tied up all the family members except his wife.

They took the woman outside the house at gunpoint where they raped her in turns, claimed the victim’s husband.

After the rape, they also threatened the victim not to disclose the matter to anyone, saying they would kill her if otherwise, he said.
