Locals, and teachers and students of Udaypur Mitali High School in Kalmakanda upazila in Netrakona staged demonstrations on Tuesday demanding immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of those involved in the killing of school headmaster Delwar Hossain Dulal, reports UNB.
Several hundred students, teachers, guardians and political party activists brought out a procession from in front of the school in the morning to press home their demand.
Dulal, 50, headmaster of the school, did not allow Maruf, a Class-VII student to appear at the half-yearly examination as he did not provide Tk 300 as examination fees. He also allegedly drove him out of school on Sunday.
When Maruf informed the matter to his family, his relatives went to school and demanded explanation from the headmaster.
An altercation ensued between them over the issue. At one stage, they attacked Delwar, leaving him injured.
Later, he was taken to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where physicians declared him dead.
Kalmakanda police station officer-in-charge AKM Mizanur Rahman said victim's brother Alal Uddin Khan filed a murder case with the police station against 8/10 people.
